Elena Andonova

Urban Research, Placemaking and Strategies
Elena is an architect and urban planner at KOMPONENTA. Her work focuses on urban research, spatial planning and the development of approaches that combine spatial analysis with the needs of people and the local context. She has experience in research, academic and practical projects in the field of urban development. She is currently a PhD candidate at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, where she researches spatial justice and transformations in the city during periods of change in political and social systems.

Elena is an architect and urban planner. She graduated in Architecture and developed her professional interests in the fields of urban development, spatial planning, and the relationship between the urban environment, social processes, and quality of life.

She has experience in academic, research, and project-based work, including the development of urban analyses, spatial research, and international initiatives in the fields of urbanism and sustainable urban development.

Since 2022, she has been a PhD candidate at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, in the Sustainable Urban Regeneration programme. Her research focuses on spatial justice and the relationship between urban transformations and changing social and political systems.

She is currently part of the KOMPONENTA team, where she works on projects related to urban research, spatial analysis, strategic planning, placemaking, and stakeholder engagement in urban development processes.

Master of Architecture, licensed architect and urban planner, and PhD candidate at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
